The city of Zachary Louisiana is located in East Baton Rouge Parish, 14 miles north of downtown Baton Rouge. In the early years of Zachary’s lively history, the settlement did not enjoy the reputation it does today. During the 1880s, with its multiple bar rooms and saloons, it was seen as the “wild west of Baton Rouge”. By the 1940s though, Zachary became known as the place to raise a family. This sentiment continues today. With top schools in the state and a healthy economy welcoming new businesses, Zachary has grown to over 16,000 people in 23.8 square miles. Large national stores, boutiques, golf courses, a regional hospital, restaurants big and small and great parks that offer sports leagues are enjoyed by residents in Zachary. A large library, history museum and a Historic Village are also in the city. Community involvement and giving back to others is strongly valued and encouraged, with events held throughout the year. Properties and homes of a wide variety are found in Zachary. Condos, retirement communities, small established neighborhoods, large lots ready to build on, large estates, neatly designed neighborhoods and golf communities are available.
