St. Francisville Louisiana is a picturesque town in West Feliciana sitting on a bluff overlooking the mighty Mississippi River. Established in 1809, St. Francisville was the once the commercial center serving the surrounding plantations. Many of the historic plantations, homes and buildings survived wars, economic depression, floods and years of wear. With these restored and preserved sites, St. Francisville is now a popular tourist destination. St. Francisville is described as being “soothing to the soul.” People agree, pouring into the charming town throughout the year to tour the Rosedown, the Butler Greenwood, the Myrtles, the Cottage and the Greenwood Plantations along with other historic sites, gardens and wineries. Highway 61 connects the town to Baton Rouge via a short 30 minutes drive. This gives the 1,700 residents access to larger city amenities as well as the local shops, art galleries, antique stores, cafes and restaurants that St. Francisville provides. Historic and Victorian homes, large modern homes overlooking the bluffs, custom homes in neatly designed neighborhoods, cottages and established neighborhoods are all available.
