The community of St Amant is located in the fast growing Ascension Parish, about 25 miles southeast of Baton Rouge. St Amant is named for the influential family of early settlers in the area. Although not incorporated, the community dates back to the 1860s when the Catholic Church established roots there. St. Amant continues as a choice place to raise a family. The two elementary schools, middle and high schools are all award winning and served by the Ascension Parish School Board. Amazing parks and community centers extend the amenities offered to the young and old. Baseball and softball fields host youth sports leagues, there are walking paths and jogging trails for all ages and even a primitive camping ground available. The outdoor and water recreational fun continues on the Amite River Diversion Canal. Waterfront homes, large custom homes, neatly organized neighborhoods with new construction and charming established neighborhoods all make up the family oriented community of St. Amant.
