The small town of Slaughter, Louisiana is located in East Feliciana Parish and north of Zachary on Highway 19. Originally incorporated in 1888, Slaughter was a farming community with a railroad depot, post office and local churches. Although the trains no longer stop in Slaughter, the close knit community remains with approximately 1,000 residents in 5.5 square miles. The conveniences of Zachary border the town to the south and downtown Baton Rouge is only 20 miles away. Slaughter is served by the East Feliciana Parish School Board and is home to Slaughter Elementary. The historic private school, the Silliman Institute, is located in nearby Clinton. A Tri-Parish Cooperative, multiple churches, a post office and a general store are also in the community. Homes with large acreage, charming cottages, custom homes and quiet neighborhoods can all be found in Slaughter, Louisiana.
